Milena, originally from Belo Horizonte and now based in Bahia, has dedicated over 15 years to forró as a dancer, teacher, performer, and judge. Mardio, from Salvador, Bahia, is the founder of Escola Chineleiros and has been teaching forró since his teens.
Together, Milena and Mardio lead Escola Chineleiros in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia, combining their unique styles and passion for authentic Brazilian forró. They are champions of several prestigious competitions, including the 2023 Forró Dance Competition in Itaúnas, and continue to inspire dancers around the world with their warmth, musicality, and deep connection to the dance.

Join us at Sprallen for a summer day of dance, music, and community. Bring a friend, a blanket, maybe a picnic and your swimsuit – but most importantly, bring your dance shoes and good vibes!

Samba de gafieira – Intensive course
Spend a day learning samba de gafieira with Ian Martinelle!
Welcome to a deep dive into the dynamic couple dance Samba de Gafieira on May 10th! The day will build up and cover fundamental to more advanced levels. There will also be a lecture about the origin and history of the dance style. Bring a lunchbox so that we can eat together and listen to the lecture. At night, there will be a party with live samba/pagode/forró music by Barracão do Samba, don’t miss out.
11:30-13:30 Fundamentals (2 workshops). 13:30-14:45 Lunch break with historical lecture. 14:45-16:45 Beyond the fundamentals (2 workshops). In the evening: Party with live music by Barracão do Samba.

We are very happy to present Janayna Pereira and band in Stockholm for the first time! This fall, she will embark on her European tour accompanied by Diego Oliveira on percussion and Cainã Araújo on the accordion.

It’s time for another Forró workshop weekend! A weekend devoted to learn new things together. We are very happy to welcome Matheus Antunes to Stockholm for the first time!
Matheus Antunes, born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is an international forró teacher currently based in Berlin. He has been a resident teacher at Forró do G3E (UFMG – BH/Brazil) and Forró de Colônia (where he founded the Duisburg, Germany branch), and now teaches at his own dance studio in Berlin, Balaio.
